Data Collected by the App

ScreenFold collects no personal data. The app:

• Reads your MacBook's lid angle sensor via IOHIDManager (local hardware access only)
• Mutes/unmutes system audio via CoreAudio (local system call only)
• Adjusts display brightness via DisplayServices (local system call only)
• Stores your preferences (threshold angle, feature toggles) in UserDefaults on your Mac

None of this data leaves your device. There are no accounts, no cloud sync, no analytics in the app, and no third-party SDKs.

System Permissions

ScreenFold requires access to:

• IOKit / HID devices: To read the lid angle sensor. This is why App Sandbox is disabled — the app cannot function in a sandboxed environment.
• Accessibility / Input Monitoring: macOS may prompt for this on some versions. ScreenFold only reads the lid angle hardware, not keyboard or mouse input.

Website (screenfold.app)

The marketing website may use analytics tools (such as Plausible or similar privacy-friendly analytics) to understand page traffic. If used, no personally identifiable information is collected and no cookies are set without consent. We do not use advertising trackers.

Payment (Gumroad)

ScreenFold is distributed on a pay-what-you-want basis via Gumroad. Any payment and personal data you provide during purchase (name, email, payment details) is processed by Gumroad and governed by Gumroad's Privacy Policy. We receive only purchase confirmation and your email for delivery purposes. We do not store payment details.

No Data Selling

We do not sell, rent, or trade any personal information. Ever.

Children's Privacy

ScreenFold is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Your Rights (EU / GDPR)

As an EU-based company we respect your rights under GDPR. Since the app itself collects no personal data, there is nothing to access, correct, or delete on our end. For any purchase-related data held by Gumroad, contact them directly. For any other concerns, contact us at the address below.

If we make material changes we will update the date above and, where appropriate, post a notice on the website.
